Bifidobacterium animalis

Bifidobacterium animalis is rod-shaped probiotic bacteria found in the large intestine in humans, but it can be grown outside the human body too. It is actually formed by two different types of bacterial strains, B. lactis and B. animalis. It has the property of attaching itself to the walls of the intestine and thereby limiting the nutrients available to harmful bacteria.

Beneficial effects: Aids digestive process and helps in relieving the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome or chronic constipation.
